QA at SAP works across the full product development cycle. Here's who you'll work with most directly:
You work with Software Engineering throughout the development cycle, not just at the end. Early involvement in design reviews and requirements analysis lets you identify quality risks before they become defects that cost time to fix.
Understanding what a feature is supposed to do, and the conditions under which it might not, requires close alignment with Product. You work with PMs on test coverage planning, defect prioritization, and the quality criteria that gate a release.
Customer-reported issues and acceptance testing feedback are some of the most valuable inputs QA receives. You work with Consulting and Customer Success to understand how problems manifest in real deployments, then feed that knowledge back into test coverage.
Both exist, but the balance is shifting strongly toward automation. SAP's scale and release frequency make manual-only testing impractical for broad coverage, and most QA engineering roles involve writing and maintaining automated tests as a core part of the job. Some specialist roles, particularly in exploratory testing and customer acceptance testing, still involve significant manual work. The job description will tell you what a specific role expects.
