Cristina joined SAP 15 years ago as an intern, and her remarkable career has taken her through 9 roles in 4 countries — and she’s not done yet! She credits her success to a mindset she adopted early on, thanks to a manager who shared one powerful piece of advice.
Diagnosed with autism from a young age, Emma spent years learning to navigate a world that wasn't built for her. At SAP, she finally found one that was, and built a career as a Support Engineer that plays to every strength she has.

"When I joined SAP five years ago as a graduate in the Academy for Customer Success Presales program, I never imagined the journey ahead. Moving from Brisbane to Sydney felt daunting, but SAP became more than just an employer, it became my community. What started as a design thinking role quickly evolved into something much bigger.
I've held four different positions at SAP, each building on the last. From Customer Innovation Principal conducting design thinking workshops, to Business Technology Platform (BTP) presales advisor, and now as an Architect Advisor, each transition happened organically through relationships and curiosity. When you build genuine connections and communicate your goals, leaders invest in your growth.
My background before SAP was quite different. I worked for the Queensland government and then at a Microsoft partner startup with just eight people. Going from big enterprise to startup, then back to a global company like SAP, taught me the value of adaptability. That startup experience, focused on change management and understanding how people work with technology, shaped my people-centered approach that I bring to every technical conversation today."

“As an Architect Advisor, I see myself as a translator. I bridge the gap between what customers need and how SAP's strategy and cloud solutions can meet those requirements. It's about making technology relevant and exciting for the people who will use it.
Each role I've held has contributed to this ability. Running workshops in my first position taught me how to design sessions for meaningful customer outcomes. My BTP advisor role showed me how to present technology in engaging ways. Now, I combine these skills to act as a customer advocate, ensuring our solutions truly solve their business challenges.
The transition into my current role wasn't easy. The first six months were particularly challenging. I often felt like I was drowning while managing complex customer engagements and difficult internal dynamics. But that experience taught me the most valuable lesson of my career: don't try to do everything alone. Being proactive about asking for help and working with your team to create viable plans is crucial. Having supportive managers make all the difference.”
“SAP is all about relationships and networks, but it's important to build them authentically. I engage in areas I'm passionate about, ask genuine questions about what people do and why they love their roles. Our former managing director used to say, ‘Make a friend before you need a friend,’ and that philosophy has served me well.
Being a young woman in a predominantly male, technical industry comes with its challenges. I've learned to take up space confidently, focus on my unique strengths, and prepare thoroughly for every interaction. The magic isn't just in knowing the technology – it's in the ‘so what’ for the customer.
Looking ahead, I'm genuinely excited about getting better at what I do. Every customer brings new challenges and learning opportunities, and I want to continue growing in a role that's dynamic, challenging, and incredibly rewarding.”
