“When I first joined SAP in March 2018 as a Academy for Customer Success graduate, I was intimidated. Working alongside colleagues with decades of experience, I felt like just a drop of salt in the SAP ocean. That fear taught me something crucial: the worst thing someone can tell you is no. During my 3.5 years as a Services Sales Account Executive covering customers like Petronas, Genting, and Malaysia Airlines, I learned that success isn't just about individual performance, it's about understanding different personalities and working as true partners, not competitors.”
“The real turning point came when I discovered SAP's fellowship program. This amazing opportunity allowed me to work in the APAC President's office for six months. Talk about timing, during my fellowship, we experienced a monumental transition with two APAC presidents, requiring me to manage communications for both the outgoing and incoming leadership
The challenge was intense. I was double-hatting, preparing onboarding materials, managing customer communications, and still hitting my sales targets. What I gained most was executive readiness, a skill not many people get to develop. I regularly found myself in calls with board members like our CEO Christian Klein and board member Thomas Saueressig, preparing talking points and agendas for C-level customer meetings.
Of course, I made mistakes. There was one painful incident where an inaccurate email went out to a customer. I had to do immediate crisis management and implement a rigorous review process. These experiences taught me to take ownership, learn from it, and ensure it doesn't happen again. As Grant, our former Malaysia Managing Director, taught me through ‘The Infinite Game’ philosophy: ‘We can't choose the game, we can't choose the rules, but we can choose how we play."

“Working across different time zones could easily consume my entire day, but I learned the hard way that neglecting yourself isn't sustainable. I had a health scare, kidney problems from overworking, that required hospitalization for almost a month. That was my wake-up call.
Now, I religiously block 1.5 hours every evening for personal time. Whether it's taking my dog for a walk, going to Muay Thai or yoga class, or spending time with my husband. This time is non-negotiable. I mark it as "out of office" in my calendar and communicate this boundary clearly. People respect clear boundaries when you communicate them firmly.
